Welcome to the Rotherham Military Community Veterans Centre Website. Our aim and the aim of the information on this website is to provide and information service to help all serving and Ex Service personnel and families in Rotherham and surrounding areas.
We are all Serving or Ex Service people or supporters, working together to provide a one stop point of contact in the Borough for our fellow military personnel both Regulars and Reserves past and present, and their dependents to offer friendly help and advice on a wide range of issues such as healthcare, housing, employment, benefits and just comradeship for those feeling isolated.
“The MCVC will provide comradeship and a sign posting service to expert support providers for ex-service personnel and their dependents in the Rotherham area”
The Military Covenant was signed by Rotherham MBC leaders and various other Military and Ex Service groups in January 2012, following on from that historical moment we are well on the way to putting into place tangible resources for our customers.
Anyone who believes they can contribute to our activities is most welcome to make contact with our group either via the links on this site, by telephoning me or Christine Majer the Council Officer with special responsibility for supporting the Armed Forces & Veterans in Rotherham on 0044 (0) 1709 822738 or by dropping in at one of our weekly meetings currently held on FRIDAYS at Voluntary Action Rotherham, Coke Hill, Rotherham, S60 2HX 10 o’clock – mid-day – we would be delighted to see you there. Our Chair Shaun Lyons can be contacted on 07847 635 283 or 07847 635 279.
The Armed Forces Community is very special, our people have put themselves in harm’s way in conflicts from time immemorial to the current operations going on around the World today. Most of us return to civilian life our lives enriched and all the better for our experiences, unfortunately some spiral into a variety of situations that leave them needing help. and we should also never forget our comrades who paid the ultimate price
We don’t ask for special favours as a group, just equal opportunities as other members of the community so as not to be disadvantaged due to our military service whenever and wherever we might have served our Country.
